Nancy Ann Messer-Basnett-Murray

 

Nancy Ann Messer-Basnett-Murray, age 65, of Russellville, Mo. Passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Mo. She was born July 1, 1946 in Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of Enloe and Dora Cooley Messer, both of whom preceded her in death. Nancy was married and divorced from Daniel Basnett September, 1967 to 1981. Nancy married Leroy Murray in May of 1995, who preceded her in death, February of 2002. Nancy worked at McGraw Edison for a time and Wal-Mart before retiring after 25 years of service. Nancy was a member of the Cole Springs Baptist Church in Russellville, Mo. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, camping and spending time with her family. She was a remarkable seamstress and made blankets for all the new born babies in the family. Her pouty dolls can be found all over mid Missouri. Nancy’s favorite thing to do was care for farm in Farmville and watch over others farms when they were away. Survivors include: one daughter; Penny Basnett Rustemeyer, with her husband Robert of Russellville, Mo.; one son; Jamie Lee Basnett, with his wife Pam Garrison of Russellville, Mo.; her dear friend and companion David Loaiza.; three sisters; Mary Messer Engelage of Jefferson City, Mo.; Rhonda Bishop of Eldon, Mo.; and Libby Messer Fishcher, with her husband Gary of Russellville, Mo.; one brother; Bert with his wife Mary Schubert Messer of Russellville, Mo.; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter; Shona Basnett Harmon,; one granddaughter; Leann Mueller.; one brother; Ronnie Messer,; and one sister; Babbi Jean Messer.; Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 am at Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo. with Bro. Steve Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Enloe cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Enloe Cemetery fund in Russellville, Mo. Mary Margaret Jett

 

Mary Margaret Jett, age 86, of California, Mo. formally of Russellville, Mo. passed away Thursday, August 5, 2011 at the California Care Center in California, Mo. She was born October 15, 1924 in Chamois, Mo. the daughter of Houston and Lena Starr, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1947 Mary moved to Jefferson City, Mo. to become part of the Melvin G. and Gertrude Gardner family, participating in an active family life helping to raise eight children, running a large hunting dog kennel, and having an opportunity for her passion and love of caring for and riding horses. Mary enjoyed square dancing, obtaining an official square dancing degree, always dreaming of the western “lifestyle”. She also enjoyed gardening, and had a keen love for dogs and horses. After 51 years with the Gardner family, Mary spent over ten years in Hartsburg, Mo. with her good friend Louise Dusenberry. In 1997 she rediscovered her first teenage love from Osage County, Raymond Jett and was married May 16, 1998 in Linn, Mo. at the age of 75. Mary and Raymond have resided in Russellville, Mo. for the last eleven years enjoying the small town life and their good friends Larry and Fran Strobel and family. She is survived by her husband Raymond, and her adopted and loved Gardner family; James Gardner of Moberly, Mo.; Tana Shivers of Warrensburg, Mo.; Sharon Gardner of Denver, Co.; Karen Gardner of Lake Ozark, Mo.; Kent Gardner of Kansas City, Mo.; Eric Gardner of Kansas City, Mo.; and Jenny Gardner of Jefferson City, Mo.; She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Melvin Gardner.; With her flame red hair and crystal blue eyes, all the stories and good times, she will always be remembered by all who loved her. Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 am at the Corticelli Baptist Church, with Bro. Ryan Stiffler officiating. Theodore Curtis Hastings

Theodore Curtis Hastings, age 79, of California, Mo. Passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo. He was born December 27, 1931 in Moran, Kansas, the son of Charles Marshall and Mattie Smart Hastings, both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage January 21, 1951 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Jean Farrell who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Parsons High School in Parsons, Kansas. Ted work for the Railroad most of his life. He was also a rifleman in the United States Army. He was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. Ted enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he will be sadly missed. Survivors include: His wife Jean of the home,; five sons; Fred Hastings of Concordia, Mo.; Bill Hastings, with his wife Jane of Parsons, Kansas; Ed Hastings, with his wife Kristin of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Don Hastings, with his wife Nikkie of Baxter springs, Kansas; and Richard Hastings of California, Mo.; three daughters; Theresa Flippin, with her husband David of California, Mo.; Patricia Greenland of Alva, Oklahoma; and Melissa Wilson, with her husband Mike of Ozark, Mo.; one sister; Edith Nokes of Coffeeville, Kansas; 22 grandchildren,; 29 great grandchildren,; Ted was preceded in death along with his parents by, one daughter; Christina Marie Hastings; and one son; Anthony Curtis Hastings; four brothers; Robert, Arthur, Marshall and Allan Hastings. The family will hold a private family memorial service at a later date. Instead of flowers or memorials, the family ask that Masses be said for Theodore.
