Herbert C. “Bud” Kiesling

 

                                                                        

 

Herbert C. (Bud) Kiesling, age 88, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at his home on the farm where he was born, near Jefferson City Mo. surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 23, 1923 the son of Otto and Mary Dampf Kiesling , both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1948 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, to Mildred Frieda Knernschield who preceded him in death on April 9, 2011. He was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Mo., where he was an usher for many years. Herbert worked for the Lohman Milling Co. for sixteen years, and also farmed and operated a sawmill on the family farm. Herbert enjoyed Cardinal baseball, dancing, playing cards, bowling, hunting and fishing, and horseshoes, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include: six children, David (Linda) Kiesling, of Jefferson City; Carol (Craig) Mize, of Jefferson City; Larry (Margie) Kiesling, Jefferson City; Joyce (Clifford) Lepper, of Eugene; Judy (Donald) Basinger, of Jefferson City; Kathy (Byard) Ross, of Blue Springs, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild is expected in July; and one sister, Elenora Block. Herbert was preceded in death, by his parents, his wife and three sisters: Venita Kramp, Ruby Kramp and Martha Angerer. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at the Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Mo. with the Rev. Francis Doyle and the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler concelebrating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Peter Capital Improvement Fund or Masses. Arrangements are under the direction of Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo.

 

 

Theodore C. Hastings

Theodore “Ted” Curtis Hastings, age 79, of California, Mo. Passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo. He was born December 27, 1931 in Moran, Kansas, the son of Charles Marshall and Mattie Smart Hastings, both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage January 21, 1951 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Jean Farrell who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Parsons High School in Parsons, Kansas. Ted work for the Railroad a few years and retired after 16 years with Dayton Superior Concrete, formerly known as Ankortite. He was also a rifleman in the United States Army. His pastime was working on and rebuilding automobiles. He also loved music and played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and the fiddle. He was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. Ted enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he will be sadly missed. Survivors include: His wife Jean of the home,; five sons; Fred Hastings of Concordia, Mo.; Bill Hastings, with his wife Jane of Parsons, Kansas; Ed Hastings, with his wife Kristin of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Don Hastings, with his wife Nicky of Baxter springs, Kansas; and Richard Hastings of California, Mo.; three daughters; Theresa Flippin, with her husband David of California, Mo.; Patricia Greenland of Alva, Oklahoma; and Melissa Wilson, with her husband Mike of Ozark, Mo.; one sister; Edith Nokes of Coffeeville, Kansas; 22 grandchildren,; 29 great grandchildren,; Ted was preceded in death along with his parents by, one daughter; Christina Marie Hastings; and one son; Anthony Curtis Hastings; four brothers; Robert, Arthur, Marshall and Allan Hastings. The family will hold a private memorial service. Instead of flowers or memorials, the family ask that Masses be said for Ted. Alberta L. Fischer

 

                           

Alberta L. Fischer, age 77, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Jefferson City Manor. She was born September 21, 1933 at home in Lohman, Mo. the daughter of Julius and Augusta Kautsch Fischer, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stringtown, Mo. Alberta belonged to the Lady’s Auxillary at the Lutheran Church in Stringtown, and the Circle Five at Trinity Luthern Church. Alberta enjoyed family get togethers. Survivors include: many loving nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death along with her parents by two brothers; Mahlon Fischer and Norman Fischer; two sisters; Celesta Fischer and Donnabell Loesch; Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stringtown, Mo. with Pastor Warren Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Johns Cemetery fund or the Trinity Lutheran Bldg. Improvement Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo.

 

Betty L. Winters-Charlson

 

                 

Betty Lou (Winters) Charlson has gone to be with her family in Heaven on May 28, 2011 in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born in Marion, Missouri on September 20, 1928. The daughter of the late Mary and Porter Coonce. She was married to “Joe” G.W. Winters in June of 1948 and Ken Charlson in May of 1982. Both deceased. Betty is remembered mostly for her fun and giggling ways and her “homemade cookies” from Schultes IGA. She will also be remembered for many talents. In her early years she was a book keeper for J.C. Penny. Then she worked for Marge Backlese as a seamstress on draperies and opened Milo H. Walz drapery department. She then opened her own business “Drapery Design”. She later opened “Betty’s Bath Boutique” on Missouri Boulevard. Betty has left behind to carry on her work and image, one daughter Debbie Howard and her husband Steve of Jefferson City, Missouri. Five grandchildren: Kari Underberg of Kansas City, Robin Hills (David) of Bloomfield, Colorado, Hollie Howard of New York City, New York, Steve Howard (Nicci) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Dana McDowell (Ronnie) of Nashville Tennessee. Five great grandchildren: Ileana and Walden Hills, Morgan and Garon McDowell and Gianna Howard. One brother: Jim Coonce of Virginia. Those preceding her in death were one son Gary Winters and two brothers, Willis Coonce and Dean Coonce. A visitation memorial celebrating Betty’s life will be held at Madison Cafe on Madison Street in Jefferson City on Thursday June 30 from 6-8 PM. Arrangements were under the direction of the Weber Funeral Home in California, Mo.
